Position Overview:

The Enterprise System Engineer maintains a strong awareness of technical trends in information technology, develops and maintains awareness of on-going IT projects and business unit requirements, applies appropriate project management models (e.g. Agile, Spiral, Waterfall), and provides comprehensive lifecycle support for hardware systems and applications. Responsibilities include developing cost analyses, ensuring compliance with technical architecture, assisting project teams, and keeping senior management informed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain responsive, secure web applications for intelligence mission support.

  • Implement modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js) and backend technologies (Node.js, Python, .NET, Java).

  • Develop RESTful APIs and microservices for seamless data integration across platforms.

  • Optimize web applications for performance, scalability, and security.

  • Work with SQL and NoSQL databases to store, retrieve, and process intelligence data efficiently.

  • Implement authentication, authorization, and encryption techniques to meet IC security requirements.

  • Conduct code reviews, performance testing, and debugging to ensure application reliability.

  • Automate deployment processes using CI/CD pipelines in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).

  • Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and mission stakeholders to tailor solutions to operational needs.

  • Stay up to date with emerging web technologies, security threats, and compliance requirements within classified environments.

Required Skills and Demonstrated Experience:

  • U.S. Citizenship required.

  • Active TS/SCI with FS Polygraph (required, no exceptions).

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree preferred

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience

  • System requirements capture, analysis, decomposition, and design

  • Lifecycle support for hardware systems and applications

  • Requirements generation, independent verification and validation tools

  • Systems engineering tools (e.g., DOORS, JAMA, JIRA)

  • Applying project management models

  • Model Based System Engineering principles

  • Ensuring compliance with enterprise technical architecture

  • Designing and supporting secure networks for virtual activities and communications

  • Integrating secure network infrastructure components, including bare metal, cloud systems, ISPs, proxies, VPNs, and TOR

  • Creating secure solutions for user validation services and two-factor authentication

  • Experience in virtualization technology, VDI, Linux, BIOS configuration

  • Deploying application servers (e.g., Wireguard, OpenVPN, Wordpress)

  • Establishing and leveraging API accesses

  • Hardening COTS mobile and computer equipment

  • Testing and evaluating software packages

  • Preparing technical documentation and management briefings

  • Communicating complex technical topics to non-technical individuals

Preferred Qualifications:

  • IT system automation, including AI/ML

  • Automated testing

  • MBSE

  • Automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform)

  • SecDevOps on iterative development projects

  • Cloud design, implementation, and configuration

  • Infrastructure as Code

  • Knowledge of modern software languages (e.g., Java, C, C++, C#, Python, Perl)

  • Experience with Sponsor’s internal requirements and accreditation processes

  • Training users on secure network systems

  • Commercial encryption and secure messaging systems

  • Network management and monitoring tools

Experience Levels:

  • Full Performance: 3+ years of experience plus a bachelor’s degree.

  • Senior: 6+ years of experience plus a bachelor’s degree.

  • Expert: 11+ years of experience plus a bachelor’s degree.

  • Subject Matter Expert: 16+ years of experience plus a bachelor’s degree.
